This repo contains an OpenEmbedded build environment tailored to the Beagleplay development board. I use the open source meta-ti, meta-arm, and openembedded-core layers. I have provided a custom meta-beagleplay that builds upon the existing layers.
First clone the project and all its submodules by doing the following:
git clone https://github.com/AlexLanzano/beagleplay-dev.git --recurse-submodules
First you must set the following variables in the conf/local.conf
:
- BEAGLEPLAY_IPADDR: The IP address of your beagleplay device
- BEAGLEPLAY_HOSTIP: The IP address of the host your beagleplay is connected to
- BEAGLEPLAY_NFSROOT: The path of to your nfsroot directory
Here is an example local.conf:
MACHINE = "beagleplay-dev"
BEAGLEPLAY_IPADDR = "192.168.0.20"
BEAGLEPLAY_HOSTIP = "192.168.0.21"
BEAGLEPLAY_NFSROOT = "\/Users\/alex\/nfsroot"
Notice how the each '/' must be preceeded by a '\'. This is because this string gets directly fed into a regular expression
Now you can kick off the build by doing:
source oe-init-env
bitbake core-image-minimal
After the build is done, insert your sd card and run the following:
make update-sdcard DEV=<path to your sd card device>
Ignore any errors that get spit out from this. Trust me.
Insert your sd card into your Beagleplay board. Hold down the USR button, then press and release the RESET button. This will signal the Beagleplay board to boot from the sdcard.
