<hi> sub and sup not styled

There are lots of fractions throughout the documents, where I have used <hi rend="sup"> and <hi rend="sub"> combined with the fraction slash ( ⁄ ) to get the desired effect. I just noticed that <hi> no longer appears to be styled. I think it was before.
