Including this plugin in your rails project let's you create views like 'show.pdf.prawn' which let you write prawn pdf statements in your view.

Prawn Renderer ↑

Prawn Renderer is a Renderer plugin for Rails that lets you create PDF views. All you have to do is setup a respond_to for pdf in your controller’s action and then create a view file with the extension .pdf.prawn.

The main difference between this and prawnto is that you have access to your normal controller instance variables like a normal rails view. Also you don’t put ‘pdf.*’ for all the pdf commands.

Here’s an example action for a controller:

def show
  @invoice = Invoice.find(params[:id])
  respond_to do |format|
    format.html
    format.pdf
  end
end

Here’s the corresponding view in views/invoices/show.pdf.prawn:
