Why aren't ShapeDNA eigenvectors orthogonal?

The eigenvectors returned by ShapeDNA function are not orthogonal. Since $$A, B$$ matrices in the generalized eigenvalue problem $$Ax = \lambda Bx$$ are both symmetric, shouldn't the eigenvectors be orthogonal? Thank you very much.
