LetsChat

The LetsChat is a Web-app relying on Node.js a JavaScript runtime build on Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine. In this project, I tried to built some of the features a Social Networking Site must have from Scratch using Node.js Backend.

Features:

  • Responsive Feed page
  • Support on Mobile view also
  • RESTful API
  • User Profile (SignUp/Login) also Edit Profile option available
  • Chat Room
  • Post Comment and like(love) option
  • Uploading Photo, Add Caption, update, delete

Before Starting

  • Checkout App
  • Most Important for before commit 47 while running app use /post route at the end of / not / directly of route otherwise a bug will appear or cannot get /

Getting Started

These instructions will get you a copy of the project up and running on your local machine for development and testing purposes. See deployment for notes on how to deploy the project on a live system.

Prerequisites

Note

  • If you're using Windows you should install all node-gyp dependencies with following commands:

$ npm install --global --production windows-build-tools and then install the package

$ npm install --global node-gyp

Installing

  • Fork the Letschat repository on Github
  • Clone your fork to your local machine
git clone git@github.com:<yourname>/LetsChat.git
  • Go to the project root directory
cd LetsChat
  • To install node dependencies use
npm install or yarn install
  • Go ahead ;)
npm start or node app.js
