the client crashes if there is a message with one single "@" symbol
This is an issue. Turning off markdown formatting is only a band-aid, it doesn't actually fix the problem.
Is the relevant message in a public channel inside a public server? If yes, please invite me to that server and send me the link to the relevant message (Copy Message Link).
Anyway. Are you able to pinpoint the message from Discord and send me its json payload? (Or at least take a screenshot of that message from Discord)

I am also getting the crash when viewing the Offtopic channel in my Opera 12.15 Discord Server since I have made that message at least once.
