I wrote a Medium article about image filters which can be found here: https://towardsdatascience.com/image-filters-in-python-26ee938e57d2 The python notebook goes over a number of image filters (including Mean, Median, Conservative, Gaussian and Frequency filters) that can be used to preporcess images and provides python code for each filter.
