We recently posted on the blog about the fact that our costs have gone up, and we have a large expense coming up, and also maybe we should consider registering for VAT:
https://doesliverpool.com/business/cool-money/
The discussion is generating some ideas for things that somebody should do so thought it would be a good idea to collect some of these ideas, they should be broken into their own tickets really but for now I thought I'd get them written down:
- Compare prices and features to nearby co-working (& workshop) spaces #1920
- Compare prices and features to nearby mailbox services
- Do some projections with different price points (and the current prices) to see how well they cover the costs.
- Do some marketing (I suppose it could be "prices going up in 3 months but lock in a low low price now!" type thing, but then that would suggest prices /weren't/ going up soon 🤔 "
- Run more courses
- Do a mailshot to let people know about the blog post (and Makefest, parties?)
- Coordinate with similar social enterprises, e.g. Liverpool Tool Library, Kittie's Launderette or with related businesses (Screwfix, etc.)
- Increase membership through advertising

I had a task on a recent Directors meeting to "mention increasing membership through advertising in the issues/mailing list post and get ideas for where to advertise." Anyone have suggestions of where we could advertise to get new members in??

Libraries (and they'd be more than happy to) - both Central and the
community libraries
Churches and other houses of worship perhaps?
Student unions
Any social venture, thinking of that place on Wavertree High Street that's
a charity shop but also a community centre

I'd like to suggest we have a "what to expect from DoES" bit of content
somewhere prominent too, so we don't have people coming in so much thinking
we're a school or a shop? Happy to write it if someone else sense checks it
