These are my quick-and-dirty Perl scripts for organizing my book collection based on Library of Congress call number. Usage: ./homelibrary [filename] Enter ISBN numbers, LCCN numbers, or raw CueCat output, one line per number. Press Ctrl+D (EOF) and then Enter to finish entry. Books which are found in the LoC database will be written, one line per book, to the file [filename].txt and sorted in order of the LoC call sign. The fields are tab-separated and suitable for import into a spreadsheet if desired. Characters are encoded in UTF-8. The command can be re-run for the same file and the new books will be added and the file re-sorted on successful exit. Partly based on isbn2lccn by Steve W Bonds, and accordingly I am distributing it under the GNU General Public License version 2.0. There are a whole shitload of prerequisites (the blessing and curse of Perl) so it's kind of a pain to get running. isbn2lccn lists the following: yaz, libyaz, libyaz-devel (from http://www.indexdata.dk/yaz/) Search-Z3950-0.05, Net-Z3950-0.44, Event-1.00, YAML-0.35, MARC-Record-1.38 In addition to that I use Business::ISBN, Barcode::Cuecat, and probably some other stuff I forgot.
