A-Comparison-on-Supervised-and-Semi-Supervised-Machine-Learning-Classifiers-for-Diabetes-Prediction
The thesis aims to compare the selected supervised and semi-supervised ML classifiers to predict gestational diabetes (Type-3). The chosen algorithms have been used previously by other researchers for predicting diabetes. The dataset chosen is PIMA Indians Diabetes Dataset (PIDD), consisting of female patients aged 21 and above. The PIDD dataset comprises 768 instances, of which 500 patients are non-diabetic, and the rest are diabetic (the dataset is imbalanced). Different steps such as data cleaning, feature selection, and binning are done on the dataset, which leads to two datasets, namely, non-binned and binned. Parameter tuning is performed while training the algorithms. In addition, oversampling is done on the training set to cope with the imbalanced nature of the dataset. The built models are evaluated using different performance measures. The results of the study showed that the semi-supervised classifier could perform better compare to supervised methods. The non-binned dataset seemed to be more suitable for this problem. The thesis is finely written and structured. In addition, the selected ML techniques are well explained and motivated.

Credit-Card-Fraud-Detection
Context It is important that credit card companies are able to recognize fraudulent credit card transactions so that customers are not charged for items that they did not purchase. Content The datasets contains transactions made by credit cards in September 2013 by european cardholders. This dataset presents transactions that occurred in two days, where we have 492 frauds out of 284,807 transactions. The dataset is highly unbalanced, the positive class (frauds) account for 0.172% of all transactions. It contains only numerical input variables which are the result of a PCA transformation. Unfortunately, due to confidentiality issues, we cannot provide the original features and more background information about the data. Features V1, V2, … V28 are the principal components obtained with PCA, the only features which have not been transformed with PCA are 'Time' and 'Amount'. Feature 'Time' contains the seconds elapsed between each transaction and the first transaction in the dataset. The feature 'Amount' is the transaction Amount, this feature can be used for example-dependant cost-senstive learning. Feature 'Class' is the response variable and it takes value 1 in case of fraud and 0 otherwise. Inspiration Identify fraudulent credit card transactions. Given the class imbalance ratio, we recommend measuring the accuracy using the Area Under the Precision-Recall Curve (AUPRC). Confusion matrix accuracy is not meaningful for unbalanced classification. Acknowledgements The dataset has been collected and analysed during a research collaboration of Worldline and the Machine Learning Group (http://mlg.ulb.ac.be) of ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles) on big data mining and fraud detection. Enuzor/Early-Detection-of-Skin-Cancer-using-CNN
One of the most common and fatal cancer in the universe is skin cancer which arise from skin of epidermis, the topmost layer of the skin, it can happen anywhere in the body. We can find out the cancer by early detection. Skin cancer detection is a time consuming process and very critical. So in clinical applications, the machine learning analysis of skin cancer is failed to give correct images for a model. In our paper we followed three pre-processing steps which are: a) removing the shadows from the image which is illumination correction processing, b) to find the border of the skin lesion in the segmentation part, c) feature extraction by doing the ABCD framework. Our thesis makes an attempt to implement the method of Convolutional Neural Network. Using this classification, we find out the best result in inception v3 which was trained on skin lesions and we got the accuracy of 82.4\%. So, our primary focus of this thesis is to differentiate between cancerous and non-cancerous image. Then our goal is to reduce importance of one of the painful process in cancer detection which is known as biopsy. Biopsy is removing tissue from a body and later it goes to many laboratory tests.
