An open source, general-purpose Discord bot written in Javascript.

Hosting Guide

Creating a Discord bot account:

Windows:

  • Install Node.js
  • Intstal FFmpeg
  • Run npm i -g windows-build-tools in an admin powershell.
  • Clone the repository (git clone https://OfficialExedo/ExedoBot.git in a command line).
  • cd to the ExedoBot directory.
  • Install dependencies with npm install in a command line.
  • Rename example-config.json to config.json and add your Discord API key from your bot user.
    • Add an osu API key if you want osu commands to work.
  • Rename example-servers.json in the data folder to servers.json DO NOT TOUCH THIS FILE.
  • Start the bot with node index.

Linux:

  • Install Node.JS from your package manager (sudo apt install nodejs npm on Debian based distros).
  • Install FFmpef from your package manager (sudo apt install ffmpeg on Debian based distros)

Adding the bot to a server

Configuration:

Setting game:

  • Change gamename in config.json

Setting prefix:

  • Change prefix in config.json

Setting yourself as bot owner:

Setting server info:

  • Run !setinfo <info> in your discord server with the bot connected. YOU MUST BE THE BOT OWNER OR HAVE THE 'MANAGE SERVER' PERMISSION

Updating

  • Stop the bot if it's currently running (Use Ctrl-C on the terminal window).
  • cd to the bot's directory if you aren't there already.
  • git pull to pull the latest code from the repo.
  • npm update to update dependencies.
  • Restart the bot with npm index.

Commands:

Help:

!help admin - Gives help for admin commands.

!help fun - Gives help for fun commands.

!help info - Gives help for info commands.

!help music - Gives help for music commands.

!help osu - Gives help for osu commands.

!help useful - Gives help for useful commands.

Fun:

!8ball <question> - Answers the question.

!coin - Flips a coin.

!copypasta [number] - Replies a random copypasta unless specified.

!decide <option> <option> - Decides between two options.

!lenny [number] - Replies a random lenny face unless specified.

!roll - Rolls a dice.

Information:

!avatar [@user] - Returns the avatar of the mentioned user, if none is mentioned it returns the sender's avatar.

!channelinfo [channel] - Returns info about this channel, unless specified.

!info - Gives info on the bot.

!ping - Pong! Check the bot is functioning.

!serverinfo - Gives information about the server.

!uptime - Gives the bot's uptime.

!userinfo [@user] - Gives info about a given user. If none is given it gives info about the sender.

!version - Gives the current version of the bot.

Music:

!play <YouTube URL> - Plays a song from a given YouTube URL.

!skip - Skips to the next song in the queue.

!stop - Stops playing music.

Osu:

!osu <name> - Shows information about a given osu player

!osub <link> <version> - Shows information about a given beatmap.

Useful:

!invite - Gives an invite link to the server.

Admin:

!setinfo <info> - Sets the server info.
