- Start by looking at other people's portfolio. Click Here.
- Keep in mind that you are not trying to copy someone else's portfolio, but rather get inspiration from them.
- Think about what you like and don't like about each portfolio you look at.
- In this workshop, everyone will be building a similar portfolio, but you can always change it later.
- Create a new repository on GitHub by clicking here.
- Name the repository '{your-username}.github.io' where '{your-username}' is your GitHub username. For example, my GitHub username is 'ethanlaj', so I would name my repository 'ethanlaj.github.io'.
- Click 'Create repository'.
- On your repository page, click on the green "Code" button and click "Open with GitHub Desktop".
- Clone the repository to your local machine.
- Open the repository in your code editor.
- Create a new file called
index.html
. - In the file, type 'html' and click on the "html:5" in the autocomplete dropdown.
- In the
<title>
tag, type your full name. This will be the title of the tab in your browser. - In the
<body>
tag, type "Hello, world!". - Save the file.
- Create a new file called
styles.css
. - In the file, add the following css styles:
body { padding: 50px; background-color: #222222; color: white; }
- Save the file.
- Go back to the
index.html
file and add a link to thestyles.css
file in the<head>
tag:<link rel="stylesheet" href="styles.css" />
