Getting Started

To get a local copy up and running follow these simple example steps.

Prerequisites

This is an example of how to list things you need to use the software and how to install them.

  • Make a free account with MongoDB and create an empty database.

Installation

  1. Clone the repo
    git clone https://github.com/FitzHawke/mern-app.git
  2. Install NPM packages in root directory and frontend
    npm install
    cd frontend
    npm install
  3. Back to root and copy or rename .env.example to .env
    cd ..
    mv .env.example .env
  4. Fill out .env with your mongoDB URI
  5. Start the dev server from the root directory
    npm run dev

Usage

Deployment

  1. Build the frontend
    npm run build
  2. Change the NODE_ENV in .env to production.
  3. Run the server from the root directory
    npm run start
