ExecParse Reference

Introduction

                The ExecParse task works the same way as the Exec MSBuild task, also allowing the output to be parsed
                and appropriate errors/warnings to be logged.

Parameters

                The ExecParse task inherits from the MSBuild Exec task. The parameters for the Exec task
                can be found in the
                Exec Task Reference
                on MSDN.

                Additional parameters are:

Parameter

Description

ErrorCausesFail

                            Optional. If set to true, any errors logged will cause the build to fail.

Configuration

                            Optional. XML configuration of any errors/warnings/messages to be parsed.

Debug

                            Optional. Default is False. Writes debug messages to the build output.

                The Configuration parameter is used to describe a regular expression for finding text in the
                output of the executed command, and replacements for logging. Each element can be used multiple times.

Error search configuration:

    <Error>

        <ColumnNumber></ColumnNumber>

Warning search configuration:

        <ColumnNumber></ColumnNumber>
        <EndColumnNumber></EndColumnNumber>
    </Warning>

Error search configuration:

    <Message>
        <Search>regular expression to search for</Search>
        <ReplaceSearch>optional search to apply to the capture of the first search</ReplaceSearch>
        <!-- The following (optional) tags contain any text replacements to use for each log item -->
        <Message></Message>
        <Importance>(High|Normal|Low)</Importance>
    </Message>

                The 'Search' tag in each case uses a regular expression to locate text in the output of the executed command.
                The regular expression can use group captures, and the group captures can be used in the replacements
                that are logged. If the regular expression uses look-ahead, then a second 'ReplaceSearch' can search within
                the content of the original search.
