The Recipe Book

Introduction

A web application to help users find their preferred recipes. Built with React, Netlify Serverless functions and running on Vite. Routing is implemented with the React Router.

Features

The website offers:

• 10 pre-defined categories for smooth searching
• A search bar, for custom searches

Run Locally

To run the project locally,

1. Clone the project

git clone https://github.com/Fredorixo/the-recipe-book.git

2. Go to the project directory

cd the-recipe-book

To follow along the next steps, make sure to:

• Create an account on RapidAPI
• Subscribe to Keto Diet API
• Install Netlify's CLI

3. Create a .env file according to .env.example file and place your API key there

4. Using the Netlify's CLI, run the local development server

netlify dev

Learnings

• Learnt and Incorporated Netlify Serverless functions in the back-end and used Axios for performing API calls
• Handled Routing using React Router library
• Used localStorage for sharing information among different tabs
