ce1adon, Hy celdon try my live cd it has the latest vega patches/firmware and also a patched pwr kernel module & bionic 18.04 / 4.16 kernel and is memory based live system. https://github.com/tekcomm/linux-kernel-amdgpu-binaries.
Or for the entire live bionic system
ROCm/ROCm#361

Can you see your device outside of CodeXL? For instance, if you run /opt/rocm/opencl/bin/x86_64/clinfo, do you see your GPU in the device list? If you run lspci | grep VGA, what devices come up?

If you do see your device listed using clinfo, but not under CodeXL, then this may be a problem in CodeXL.

If you cannot see your device using clinfo, but you do see it using lspci, then this may be an issue with ROCm (which @TekComm 's live CD may solve), or it may be an issue such as having your GPU installed on a PCIe bus that ROCm does not support (e.g. using a CPU without PCIe gen 3 atomics, having your GPU installed in a PCIe gen 2 slot, etc.). In either either case, that is likely not a CodeXL issue and keeping this bug open here (rather than in e.g. the ROCm GitHub repo) may delay finding help with your problem.

If you do not see your Vega device when running lspci, then you may have much greater hardware problems.

Here is my result to run /opt/rocm/opencl/bin/x86_64/clinfo and lspci | grep VGA

/opt/rocm/opencl/bin/x86_64/clinfo
