Field Test

Just field tested your stethoscope, I noticed that you are using 2 different formats for the head the one from OpenScad code is different from the Master list, I have printed both under the prescribed settings for the model. Neither have preformed better than a littmann classic with just a simple test using a medical simulator using breath sounds set to wheezing the printed one sounded more dull than the littmann..My thoughts are that maybe the report cover that I have bought is different, the tubing is the from a cardiac 3 fits perfectly. So I am thinking the diaphragm density my have something to do with it. I would like to work with you to improve your model. My team is considering maybe conducting a study on your stethoscope, so any help to support would be much appreciated.

Regarding " test using a medical simulator," can you share details of this test and how it differs from the baseline here? I'm building one right now and would love to hear more.

Pretty simple test. I used a Simman Essential it has built in speakers designed to replicate different breath sounds. I took my finger placed it where the last stethoscope was and kept switching between the two. The 3d printed stethoscope sound more dull. But in any regard it works. Hope this helps.

IF you have any more questions feel free to private message me.

Let me know how I can private message you. For now, can yo post pictures of the heads and how they differ. I might have printed the one that is not ideal for the membrane prescribed. On the stethoscopes you built, how did you glue the membrane to the head? Would you mind sharing the procedure and pictures?

Thank you @rhiannas21 for your work on this. Indeed we did find that different membrane material did change things, so perhaps trying a few until you hit one that works would be great.

I'm confused by your comment regarding the different types of heads. The STLs should be correct in the master branch in the base directory. Could you explain further the issue?

@abitofalchemy Regarding gluing the membrane, the fit of the ring to the head should be such that there's no need to glue it, but since this is all about maintaining good seals, you can try and see if it helps. a washer might do the job without locking you in too much.

@tareko Instead of downloading the master list. I found the open scad code you posted copied it and pasted into open scad. That's how I ended up with 2 models.

Do you mean https://github.com/GliaX/Stethoscope/blob/master/source_files/stethoscope_head.scad ?

I have made all the .scad names in source_files match the STLs, so I'm still confused where there are two different versions.

tarek : )

@tareko Could you share what membranes showed to be most effective. The diaphragm needs to be perfectly flat or slightly beveled? I am trying to produce the best possible outcome.

Is there a way I can attach pictures on here?

There should be no confusion it's quite clear. Maybe an older model you rendered. @tareko I would like to confirm your results. I work for a research department and would like to assist you with your paper. I have resources that may benefit your work.

@abitofalchemy I believe I found your contact information. Just googled your name. Is your .edu still current?

There you go that is the file that differs.

Thank you for this. I'm afraid to be helpful at all, you'll have to tell me exactly how you got that link. It is indeed an older version of the file.

@tareko I dont even remeber .:(
