Repository of the SEFSC Management History Data Processing Project

This SEFSC - ODM - Management History repository provides a method for generating an analysis-ready version of the Management History Database. In their original format, the records in this database represent Federal Register (FR) changes in management actions affecting federally managed species throughout the Gulf of Mexico, South Atlantic, and U.S. Caribbean regions. The data files and code contained in this repository define and execute logic for grouping and creating streamlined time series of related management events. This process is actively being updated.

This repository is structured into the following folders:

ODM-MH-Data-Log/

This folder contains the standard code for processing the raw Management History data downloaded from the Online Database Manager (ODM). The main steps in this procedure include creating necessary grouping variables as well as filling in end dates for each management action. The result of this code is a RDS file which is used in the ODM-MH-Analysis-Ready scripts. The metadata for this R code can be found here and variable descriptions for the resulting RDS file can be found here.

ODM-MH-Analysis-Ready/

This folder contains the working code for processing the MH Data Log RDS file into various analysis-ready datasets. This work is still ongoing.

Examples/

This folder contains example outputs that replicate tables and datasets used in the SouthEast Data and Assessment and Review (SEDAR) process as well as code used for creating case study folders to further explore examples.

Products

The Management History dataset have been used to create SEDAR working papers to assist with the assessment process. These working papers are outlined below for reference.
