This demo app demonstrates a basic use of the salesforce_ar_sync gem. It is setup to be deployed to Heroku. To try it out you will need a Salesforce sandbox, and somewhere to deploy the app.
You’ll need a Heroku account and to have the Heroku Toolbelt installed to follow these instructions.
Start by cloning the repository.
git clone git://github.com/InfoTech/sf_sync_demo.git cd sf_sync_demo
Then login to heroku and create a new app.
heroku login heroko create
Set your configuration values
heroku config:set SALESFORCE_AR_SYNC_IP_RANGES=204.14.232.0/23,204.14.237.0/24,96.43.144.0/22,96.43.148.0/22,204.14.234.0/23,204.14.238.0/23,182.50.76.0/22 heroku config:set SALESFORCE_AR_SYNC_ORGANIZATION_ID= heroku config:set SALESFORCE_AR_SYNC_SYNC_ENABLED=true heroku config:set DATABASEDOTCOM_CLIENT_ID= heroku config:set DATABASEDOTCOM_CLIENT_SECRET= heroku config:set DATABASEDOTCOM_HOST=test.salesforce.com heroku config:set DATABASEDOTCOM_PASSWORD= heroku config:set DATABASEDOTCOM_USERNAME=
Get the Heroku Postgres Addon
heroku addons:add heroku-postgresql:dev
This will setup a database and give you a configuration variable that looks something like this: HEROKU_POSTGRESQL_MAROON_URL. You’ll want to promote this as your primary database.
heroku pg:promote HEROKU_POSTGRESQL_MAROON_URL
Now you are ready to to deploy the code and setup the database.
git push heroku master heroku run rake db:migrate heroku restart
If you want to be able to process Salesforce Outbound messages, you’ll need to start up a worker process. Keep in mind that this pushes you out of the free usage, and you’ll be charged for any time the worker is running. Once this worker is running, any messages you have configured your Salesforce instance to send will be processed.
heroku ps:scale worker=1
You’re done! Go to your page and you’ll be able to create & update accounts.
