Why am I not doing well compared to last month?

Ebay Used PC Parts Sale Analysis

The problem & the situation:

  • My previous pc no longer fulfills my needs of gaming, I bought new components and wanted to sell my old components.
  • I was doing a good job selling my previous graphics cards GTX 1080 and CPU: i7-7700K
  • Recently I am trying to sell my motherboard, power supply, RAMs and water cooling system, however, I noticed that I had relisted those products several times, no luck
  • So what has changed my sales? What is the root cause of the issue? How would I proceed and sell it at a statisfying price?

Initial Guess:

  • The Market:

    • GPUs and CPUs are of higher demands compared to other components? -- Number of products for sale at the moment
    • Do I have less competitors on the market? -- The secific product's for sale number
  • The Item:

    • Bid / Buyout options avaliable? -- Yes / No (price difference large, starting low, buyout high)
    • Brand reputation -- Average rating of the brand in pc components / specific items
    • Price - performance ratio -- Looking for overpriced / value for money / worth it etc
    • Description detailed enough? (Photo etc)
  • The expectation:

    • Pricing Expectation -- Item conditions, item price drop with respect to days of purchase

5 Forces: That I need to consider selling the product

  • Rivalry among exisiting competitors:
    • Number of product on sold / price ranges vs conditions
  • Buy Power:
    • Number of customer purchases the products (Not enough info to gain from)
  • Supply Power: (Not in consideration)
  • Threat of substitute:
    • Other brands of products avaliable
    • Maybe sell it in another selling cycle when the most powerful products are sold
  • Threat of new entrants:
    • Almost no barrier to enter the market, ez set up and no cost upfront
    • There might be other rivals do price competition

Strategy: Customer Decision Making Process

AIDA:

  • Attention: Need attention from customer? How?
    • Fancy picture (real + polished)
    • Detailed title
    • Ebay promotion (whether it would worth the cost)
  • Interest: How do I get them interest in buying?
    • Price (lower as possible, lower starting point / higher buyout)
    • Brand (inheretive)
    • Description content / specs
  • Desire: convince customer that they want the product
    • Same as interest
    • Maybe return avaliable
    • Services after sold
    • Maybe adding bundles / reasons for selling
    • Adding DM message invitation
  • Action: customer take action to purchase the product
