You can create the server and toy with it, but it's not ready and there is no encryption, yet, for data.

Set up

Install python from https://www.python.org/ (built under python 3.9)
Download repository connect.git
Create a new virtual environment following the instructions in this official python guide

python3 -m venv c:\path\to\myenv
Activate venv: $ venv\Scripts\activate
Install requirements.txt

(venv) $ pip install -r \path\to\requirements.txt
Script is ready!
Run server with connect.py
Or change directory to connect (top level folder).
set the FLASK_APP environment variable:
- CMD: (venv) $ set FLASK_APP=connect.py
- PowerShell: $env:FLASK_APP = '.\connect.py'
- Unix Bash: $ export FLASK_APP=connect.py
Run flask app: (venv) $ flask run

Configure a real email server for error handling

set MAIL_SERVER=smtp.googlemail.com  
set MAIL_PORT=587  
set MAIL_USE_TLS=1  
set MAIL_USERNAME=<your-gmail-username>  
set MAIL_PASSWORD=<your-gmail-password>

What it does

Chat with only those you know, either in groups or one to one. Create your own virtual and private social net.
