This repository includes a surrogate modeling framework based on polynomial chaos expansion (PCE) for approximating complex hydrological models, aiming to improve the computational efficiency of investigations requiring thousands of model evaluations. PCE was fitted and verified using high-fidelity model evaluations on a Hadoop-based cloud and was then used as a case study to investigate approximation capability in a SWAT surrogate model with respect to accuracy, fidelity, and efficiency.
