I cannot connect my wheel to the app

Closed this issue · 15 comments

Hi!
Thanks for developing this app!
However I cannot connect my Got Way MCM4 V2 HS 680WH to the app whereas it works with th official app. Do you have any clue why it is the case?
I have a OnePlus3 and a Pebble Time.

Thanks for your support! :)
Baptiste

Can you describe what happens? Can you successfully scan for your wheel? Does the connection symbol flash, stay white, turn orange?

The app finds my wheel and says it is connected but no information is displayed then as you can tell from the picture.
Everything seems to be correctly connected

Can you install this app. It's called KEVTEST. Once it's connected it will list the services and characteristics advertised by your wheel. This is used to detect the type of wheel connected. I'm guessing it may be different on an MCM4 V2 and I might need to add it. If you can copy/paste the output that would be great.

I tried to scan but the wheel is not detected by Kevtest... 😕

Sorry you'll need to give it location permissions from the Android app settings menu. As it's just a test app I didn't implement the prompts for permission.

Ah ok !
Is it what you need ?

Location permission is required for Android to scan for Bluetooth LE devices. I don't know why. Seems pretty stupid to me. But without it scanning for BluetoothLE devices doesn't work.

Googles great reply. "We are aware of this issue"

Ok, got that ! 😊
Is the screenshot enough ?

The screenshot didn't come through. A copy/paste from the textbox would be preferable. Especially if I have to type it into the app.

Here it is !

Ah well that's not what I expected. It says "Found gotway" so it knows what type of wheel you have. Is the MCM4 V2 a new wheel? Do you use have to use a different Gotway app? On the forums it seems to be working with other people's MCM4 wheels but they do not specify if it's a V2.

Fixed in version 1.2.1

How may I get this version?
This wheel was launched in the end of 2015 and I think I use a normal version of the Gotway app. :)

You need to sign up to the beta channel. Gotway support is only in the beta versions 1.2.0+

I did and it is perfectly working!!!! Thanks a lot! :)
So great to have a speed indicator on the watch while riding! :D
