Cat-Downloader

Cat Downloader is a simple Java based downloader for Minecraft Modpacks from CurseForge.

IMPORTANT NOTE This project was reworked and made even better on develop branch, however, I still have to do some work before I can publish it here. For now, for updated version, check out Cat-Downloader-Legacy!

Java 17 is required.

How to use CatDownloader?

  1. Download .zip version of the pack from CurseForge.
  2. Move CatDownloader-1.1.1.jar and [optionally] run script to your minecraft instance folder.
  3. Unpack your .zip version of the pack.
  4. Move manifest.json and all files/folders from override folder to your minecraft folder as well.
  5. Run CatDownloader-1.1.1.jar and wait until it finishes.
  6. Install correct version of Minecraft and Forge/Fabric provided by Cat Downloader at the start of the download.
  7. Play your modpack with all mods downloaded automatically \o/

FAQ

  • Q: Does it automatically update modpacks?
  • A: No. This downloader only downloads mods from the pack, so updates need to be done manually by removing mods folder and all files that are provided in overrides folder.
  • Q: Will there be a way to give the downloader a link to a modpack, and it will download it automatically?
  • A: Someday... maybe...
  • Q: How to contribute changes?
  • A: Take a look at develop branch :D There is all info you need there.
