DB Diagram is a small Python script that can help automate generation of simplified SQL database diagrams with enough detail to provide at least a high-level overview of the database schema.
.svg output files are searchable and provide extra info when mouse hovering. Other output formats are also supported.
Grapviz can be installed with your package manager, e.g.
dnf install graphviz
pyparsing can be installed e.g. with pip:
pip install --user pyparsing
or with conda:
conda install pyparsing
Using MariaDB, for example, to generate an SVG file:
mysqldump --no-data dbname > tables.sql
python db_diagram.py -i tables.sql -o /tmp/dbname.svg -n
