Standards and Guidelines

Below is a set of general guidelines for different types of changes.

Pull Request Naming Guidelines

We use Conventional Commits for our pull request titles (and commit messages on the master branch). Please follow the guidelines below when naming pull requests.

For types, we generally use the following:

  • feat: Introducing a new feature.
  • impr: Enhancing an existing feature.
  • fix: Rectifying a bug.
  • docs: Solely modifying documentation.
  • style: Adjusting code appearance without impacting functionality. (E.g., whitespace, formatting, semicolons)
  • refactor: Restructuring code for readability, comprehension, or enhancement.
  • perf: Optimizing code performance.
  • test: Incorporating or rectifying tests.
  • build: Modifying the build system or external dependencies. (E.g., gulp, npm)
  • ci: Editing CI configuration files and scripts. (E.g., Travis, Circle, BrowserStack, SauceLabs)
  • revert: Undoing a previous commit.
  • chore: Miscellaneous changes not falling under the above categories.
