What about to allow more than 8 players? I would like to play in 12 players.

It would need waaaaaaaaay bigger maps or edit of current ones to hold up to 12 players

It could be option. You do not have to do it. Or play it. I have been playing long time (from 1998) this game and I know that it could work fine.

Supporting up to 12 players would be problematic for MP games (GUI and network load), but still manageable. Also 12 players in SP could make sense too.

So I'm slightly more in favor of this, than against it.
