DIY Filament scale integrated into filament holder

Do It Yourself Filament Spool Scale which is integrated into the filament holder so you can easily monitor your remaining filament. By default it is not using batteries so you can hook it up straight to the printer/power suply. Optionaly you can add battery by soldering extension wires to prepared pads and than attach battery.

Needed

  • 4x M3 screws (15mm for mounting PCBs)
  • 2x M3 nuts (rectangle PCB mounting)
  • 4x M4 screws (approx. 10 mm, and 2 with flat head)
  • Custom PCB
  • 7x1 horizontal pin header 2.54 mm pitch
  • Arduino Nano
  • USB cable (according on Arduino Nano variant)
  • A DC-DC step-down converter and USB port for connecting the USB cable
  • Load Cell 5 kg
  • HX711 AD Module Weight Sensor
  • 0.96 Inch OLED Module I2C
  • 3x buttons 6 mm
  • 3 resistor axial
  • 3D printed parts (Upper, Body, Nut, Cover)

Load cell

Compatible with both load cell designs - 12.7 x 12.7 x 75mm (type 1) or 12.7 x 12.7 x 80mm (type 2), holes for M4 bolts and two holes for M5 holes (type 2).

3D Printable parts

Mounting screw has 24 mm i diameter with according thread.
