This is the a microbog application guided by the 4th edition of Ruby on Rails Tutorial: Learn Web Development with Rails by Michael Hartl.

Getting started

To get started with the app, clone the repo and then install the needed gems:

$ cd ~/
$ git clone https://github.com/Kur0x/microblog.git microblog
$ cd microblog
$ bundle install --without production

Next, migrate the database:

$ rails db:migrate

Finally, run the test suite to verify that everything is working correctly:

$ rails test

If the test suite passes, you'll be ready to run the app in a local server:

$ rails server

TrobleShooting

1. An error occurred while installing mysql2 (0.4.6), and Bundler cannot continue. Make sure that gem install mysql2 -v '0.4.6' succeeds before bundling.

   You can run sudo apt-get install libmysqlclient-dev

2. An error occurred while installing sqlite3 (1.3.13), and Bundler cannot continue. Make sure that gem install sqlite3 -v '1.3.13' succeeds before bundling.

   You can run sudo apt-get install libsqlite3-dev

3. $ rails db:migrate rails aborted! Bundler::GemRequireError: There was an error while trying to load the gem 'uglifier'. Gem Load Error is: Could not find a JavaScript runtime. See https://github.com/rails/execjs for a list of available runtimes.

   You can run sudo apt-get install nodejs
