GaaKU is an online platform designed to facilitate small-scale transactions between buyers and sellers within the Kathmandu University community. It aims to provide a viable marketplace for students and lecturers to sell their used or unwanted items to others who may be in need.
The basic objectives of developing this piece of software is summarized in following bullet points.
- To provide a user-friendly platform for the KU community to sell or buy different goods.
- To provide a practicable communication channel between buyer and seller.
- To provide a more comprehensive detail and pictures regarding the products, thus enabling consumers to choose better.
- To notify users about the arrivals of new products in order to keep them updated with the transactional activities.

- Very good aesthetics and intuitive user interface.
- A user can both buy and sell things from the same account.
- The buyer can directly contact the seller or comment on his product and communicate there in private since other users cannot see the conversation between them.
- The seller can update or delete their product any time they like, and also decides whom to sell.
- Only the verified users can view the personal information of the sellers.
- There’s a notifications and updates system which notifies the users if someone comments/replies or posts a product that they had been looking for.
- There is the history within the profile of the user to give them information about the transaction they performed.
- The user can add the product they are looking for in the wishlist which will be displayed in their profile.
