This is the central location for collaboration on data and interoperability specifications for parties working with and implementing on top of the Factom ® Protocol. The intention is not to force people to implement solutions. Instead, it is to formalise specifications that implementors can adhere to when building on the Factom ® Protocol in order to encourage ecosystem interoperability.

FIPs govern proposed changes and improvements for the Factom ® Protocol, APIs, core software and native language drivers. FIS, however, governs proposals, changes and improvements to 2nd layer specifications that software and data on top of the Factom ® Protocol can use.
