Repro steps:

1. Open list op data types

Hello,

Tested with the latest PowerBI version.
Data category type is still available.
Make sure you follow the steps as indicated : On the left-side edge, select the Data tab, and then in the Fields pane, select the customers table.
Select the City column header, and then set its Data Category property to City

I think this caused some small confusion. The exercise itself talks about data categories (more info can be found here ) whereas the article mentioned talks about data types.
