First Run

  1. If on a Mac first install Xcode

  2. Install MongoDB

  3. Install Node.js

  4. Install Imagemagick using Homebrew if you're using OS X

     $ brew install imagemagick
    

    If you're using Windows, head to http://www.imagemagick.org/download/ and download the latest version of Imagemagick, and just follow the installer steps.

  5. Navigate to the web-app directory

  6. Install npm dependencies:

     $ npm install
     $ npm install --global gulp
    
  7. Create a folder for the MongoDB server with

     $ mkdir db
    
  8. Use gulp to run the application (it will automatically start Mongo)

  9. Navigate your browser to http://localhost:4000

Push to testing environment

  1. Install git and heroku toolbelt (https://toolbelt.heroku.com/)
  2. git config --global user.name "John Doe"
  3. git config --global user.email johndoe@example.com
  4. if want to only temporarily be login to git (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5343068/is-there-a-way-to-skip-password-typing-when-using-https-github)
  5. if want permanent storage of git password (https://help.github.com/articles/caching-your-github-password-in-git/)
  6. heroku login
  7. gulp stage OR gulp stage --test [stage number]
