Collision issue with nema 14 motor in 2020 rail. Requires 2-3mm filing.

Thanks for reporting this. Are you using Carbon Fiber tube or 2020 Aluminum Extrusion? CF tubes are usually a bit larger (20.3mm). Depending on the Nema14 motor brand used, some filling may be required yes. Will add a note in the BOM for now as a redesign implicates too many changes at this point.

I am using a 2020 aluminum profile. Not really a change necessary. I think a simple note that a slight filing will be necessary in some cases. The outer diameter of my motor is 36.6 mm

Another potential cause could be the rail. are you using Hiwin / MGN rails? other brands could have the carriage sitting further away from the rail seating surface therefore pulling the motor down towards the 2020 cross member in our application.

The following note has been added to the BOM file for each available HextrudORT Carriages:

Important Note: ref: #9
Depending on source of components for your build, printing tolerances and the fact that the design clearances are reduced to a minimal, you may need to file/trim a section of the Nema 14 motor to clear the XY cross member.
This modification will not affect motor performance or reliability.

Issue is considered closed.

I use MGN12H (measured at 8mm)
