Rantissi allows you to control your Mac's volume by pressing the middle button then scrolling on your mouse.
macOS 10.14.4+, can be compiled for 10.12, 10.13 and lower versions of 10.14 as well, however that would inflate the app's size to 11mb as those versions do not have a stable Swift ABI.
