Goal of the Project

The goal of the project entails analyzing the data that made Semmelweis discover the importance of handwashing.

Outcome of the Project

Various insights were deduced from analyzing Dr. Semmelweis' dataset:

  1. There was decrease in number of women dying due to childbed fever after handwashing was made mandatory.
  2. The mean proportion of deaths as a percentage before handwashing was introduced was approximately 10.5%. It reduced to 2% after handwashing was introduced.
  3. Dr.Semmelweis analysis of handwashing practices was a simple but highly effective procedure that could save many lives.
