github_backup_user_repos

Clone and pull all repositories of one or more user for backup.

Setup

sudo apt-get install git python

sudo apt-get install git python3

and

git clone https://github.com/Oros42/github_backup_user_repos.git

Run

cd github_backup_user_repos
python3 github_backup_user_repos.py -h

Usage: github_backup_user_repos.py: [options]

Options:
  -h, --help            show this help message and exit
  -u USERNAME, --user=USERNAME
                        Username (From https://github.com/<Username>)
  -o OUTPUT, --output=OUTPUT
                        Path to the output directory

python github_backup_user_repos.py -u <username> -o <output_directory>

Examples :

$ python github_backup_user_repos.py -u Oros42 -o ./repositories/

Now, you can make a cron to run github_backup_user_repos.py every X time to keep your backup up to date :-)

crontab -l | { cat; echo "42 2 * * * python /PATH_TO_GITHUB_BACKUP_USER_REPOS/github_backup_user_repos.py -u USERNAME -o  PATH_OUTPUT &> /PATH_TO_GITHUB_BACKUP_USER_REPOS/backup.log"; } | crontab -

Don't forget to replace PATH_TO_GITHUB_BACKUP_USER_REPOS, PATH_OUTPUT and USERNAME.
