Hack the Change 2023 🫳

Overview

Welcome to our project for Hack the Change 2023! We are providing a platform that makes the donation of children's clothing easy and accessible, while also encouraging the reuse of the clothes as well. It appeals to both those who want to give back and those who seek a more sustainable alternative. πŸ‘Ά

Getting Started

Start by creating an account through your Gmail account. βœ‰οΈ

Once you create your account, you can either grab or donate an article of clothing. Remember, you are only given 3 free buy tokens! Make sure to donate your own clothes to get more tokens! 🫢

To donate clothing, simply fill out the donation form and upload your image! Don't worry about uploading a wrong image. Our AI scans your image to make sure it's actually a piece of children's clothing.

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.12.0
  • Node.js and npm
  • AWS

Setting up the Development Environment

Backend Setup

  1. Clone the repository: git clone https://github.com/ParsaKargari/HTC-2023.git
  2. Navigate to the backend directory: cd server
  3. Install the required Python packages: pip install -r requirements.txt
  4. Start the Flask server: python server.py or python3 server.py

Frontend Setup

  1. Navigate to the frontend directory: cd client
  2. Install the necessary npm packages: npm install
  3. Start the React app: npm start
  4. The app should now be running on http://localhost:3000 (or the port you have configured)
