A plugin for Gedit 3 that allows you to save and organize your favorite documents for quick access.

Requirements

This plugins is for Gedit 3 and is not compatible with Gedit 2.x.

Installation

  1. Download this repository by clicking the Downloads button at the top of the github page or issue the following command in a terminal:

    git clone git://github.com/Quixotix/gedit-favorites.git

  2. Copy the file favorites.plugin and the folder favorites to ~/.local/share/gedit/plugins/.

  3. Restart Gedit.

  4. Activate the plugin in gedit by choosing 'Edit > Preferences', select the 'Plugins' tab, and check the box next to 'Favorites'.

Basic Use

  • Add a document to the list of favorites using the 'File' > 'Add to Favorites' menu item.

  • Use the right-click popup menu on the 'Favorites' tab of the side panel to:

    • Create folders
    • Rename folders
    • Remove folders or documents
    • Open documents
    • Open all documents in a folder

  • Organize documents and folders using drag and drop in the 'Favorites' tab of the side panel.
