Getting Started

Follow these steps to get the project up and running on your local machine for development and testing:

Prerequisites

Make sure you have the following requirements met:

  • Latest version of npm, Node.js, and postgreSQL installed.
  • Windows/Linux/Mac machine.

Installation

To run World Capital Quiz locally, follow these steps:

  1. Clone the repository

    git clone https://github.com/username/projectname.git
  2. Move into the project directory

    cd projectname
  3. Install the dependencies

    npm install
  4. Create a database named world and a table named countries.

  5. Import the capitals.csv file into the countries table.

  6. Configure the database by filling in the password in index.js on line 12:

    const db = new pg.Client({
      user: "postgres",
      host: "localhost",
      database: "world",
      password: "",
      port: 5432,
    });
  7. Run the application:

    node index.js
  8. Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost:3000 to access the website.
