Gedit is a very user friendly text-editor. Its functiona;ities can be extended using extensiona. There are so many of them, my personal favourities being the BracketCompletion, CodeComment, ControlYourTabs, DrawSpaces,, EmbeddedTerminal, ExternalTools, FileBrowserPanel, FindInFiles, Git, OpenasAdmin, QuickHighLight, QuickOpen, Snippets, TextSize, WordCompletion. Some of these comes by default with gedit(may vary according to your distro), you just have to enable them in plugins section. If you use some keyboard shortcuts along with these extensions, gedit is the best text editor ou there-
