Plugin not disabled when in source view.

The plugin's editor extension rendering doesn't seem to disable when we're in Source Mode. I also can't find a way of determining whether the workspace is actively in source mode or live preview mode.
MarkdownView.getMode() doesn't seem to work - always returning source regardless of whether I'm in source mode or live preview mode (it does return preview in reading mode, which makes me think it's outdated / there's a new method?).
