ChatGPT Cover Letter Generator Chrome Extension

Installation

  1. Clone this repository:
  2. git clone https://github.com/yourusername/GPTCover.git
  3. Open Google Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions.
  4. Enable "Developer mode" in the top right corner.
  5. Click on "Load unpacked" and select the folder containing the cloned repository.
  6. The extension should now be installed and appear in the extensions list.

Usage

  1. Click on the extension's icon to open the popup.
  2. Enter the job requirements in the textarea.
  3. Select the desired language for the cover letter.
  4. Click on "Generate Cover Letter" to generate a cover letter based on the provided details.
  5. The generated cover letter will be displayed in the popup. You can save it by entering a name and clicking on the "Save" button.

  • Save generated cover letters and view them in the options page.
  • Customize resume details (education, work experience, skills, personal projects) in the options page.

Disclaimer

This extension uses the OpenAI API to generate cover letters, and you will need to provide your own API key to use the extension. The OpenAI API is a paid service, and you are responsible for any charges incurred by using the API. Additionally, the generated cover letters may not be suitable for all job applications, and the extension should not be relied upon as a replacement for professional resume and cover letter writing services. All input data, including the resume details and API key, are stored locally in the Chrome browser's storage and are not uploaded or shared with anyone. However, it is recommended that you do not enter any sensitive or confidential information in the extension.
