About

This project is a helper package to arrange tables for a wedding. We recommend assigning guests to tables at random.

If you don’t want to do that, we provide functionality for reading from csv, exporting to csv and moving people to and from tables. Documentation can be found in the test file.

To get started, clone this repository and run python -m pip install -e . to install it.

Use

First, format your guest list in a CSV /path/to/guestlist.csv with 4 columns and no header

| Mr. and Dr. Brown  | 2 | Group 1 |         |
| Mr. and Mrs. Smith | 2 | Group 2 | Table 1 |
| Mr. Wilson         | 1 | Group 1 |         |
| Ms. Williamson     | 3 |         |         |

In python your workflow is as follows

from tables import Arrangement
arr = Arrangement(csv_path='/path/to/guestlist')
arr.display()

You can then run arr.seat_all() to randomly place your guests at existing tables. If you need more tables, you can run arr.create_table(table_name). The arrangement class also has add, remove and merge methods for more fine-grained control.
