A.k.a. Make the Zerth Blade Useful

Version 1.0

Platforms: Windows, MacOS

Overview

Ever walk around with Dakkon's Zerth Blade, and cast Melf's Minute Meteors, only to immediately kick yourself because you just lost your extra spell slots? This mod aims to fix that. It gives you a 60-second window after unequipping the Zerth Blade, to re-equip it without losing your extra spell slots. You still need to mostly have the Zerth Blade equipped... but the occasional brief use of a missile weapon or MMM should be okay.

It also works on the +spells weapons in IWDEE, such as the Mage Daggers and Sanctified War Hammers.

Installation

Windows:
The mod archive should be extracted into your game folder from the archive (or just unzipped and then copied there). If properly extracted, you should have a "spell_weapons" folder and "setup-spell_weapons.exe" in your game folder. To install, simply double-click "setup-spell_weapons.exe" and follow the instructions on screen.

Run setup-might_and_guile.exe in your game folder to reinstall, uninstall or otherwise change components.

Mac OS X:
This mod is packaged and installed with WeiDU. To install, simply extract the contents of the mod into your game folder. If properly extracted, you should have a folder called "spell_weapons" and the "Mac WeiDU Launcher" in your game directory. To install, simply double-click the WeiDU Launcher, choose "spell_weapons" from the list, and follow the instructions on screen.

Compatibility

This requires functions that were added to the game engine in EE v1.4, so it can only be used on IWDEE 1.4+, or BGEE/BG2EE v2.0+, or SoD.
