Finding a dataset

  • Gapminder: A collection of multiple data sets related to global development. It includes a large variety of topics, from Energy and enviroment to Health and education. Every indicator has a link to the source of origin and can be downloaded in csv.
  • World Bank Open Data : Free and open access to global development data. It has over 14k datasets, indicators and visualizations. It allows to download the data in different formats (CSV, Excel, XML, etc).
  • Global Health Observatory (WHO): A collection of more than 1K health-related indicators. Data are organized to monitor progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including health status indicators to monitor progress towards for the overall health goal, indicators to track equity in health indicators, and the indicators for the specific health and health-related targets of the SDGs. The indicators can be downloaded in multiple formats, including CSV.
  • Google Trends: it provides information on the most popular queries and can be filtered by several indicators. The data can be downloaded in a csv format.
  • Google Dataset Search: A search engine to find datasets stored across the Web through a simple keyword search.

Ideas

  • Google Public Data Explorer: A tool to create visualizations of public data, link to them, or embed them in their own webpages. Each chart has a link to it's datasource, where it could be downloaded from.
