Inkscape templates

Inkscape templates is a collection of common used devices resolutions that you can install and use in inkscape, ready to design.

Collection

At the moment the collection includes the most common used devices and resolutions as defined in W3Counter

  • Desktop 1920x1080
  • Iphone 5 320x568
  • Iphone 6 335x667
  • Iphone 6+ 414x736
  • Ipad 1024x768
  • Ipad retina 2048x1536
  • Laptop 1280x800
  • Nexus 5 360x640
  • Nexus 7 960x600
  • Nexus 10 1280x800

Installation

To install the templates:

  1. clone this repo or download your favorite template.

  2. Copy it to your local Inkscape templates folder.

    For Linux and Mac it is

    ~/.config/inkscape/templates
    

    For Windows it is (just use it in Explorer as is) and find your templates folder.

    %APPDATA%\\Inkscape

Grid

By default, all templates come with a 8x8px blue grid with a major red grid separator every 16x16px because it relies on a .5rem/1rem measures as reference.

Set as default

To set a template as default and start using it as soon as Inkscape is opened you have to:

  1. Copy the template to ~/.config/inkscape/templates
  2. Rename the template as "default.svg"

The default template will be opened in Inkscape every time you create a new document.

How to contribute

Patches, fixes and new templates are welcome.

  1. Clone this repo
  2. Use your favorite template and open it in inkscape or create one from scratch
  3. In the document settings:
    1. Page tab: set your document default units, width and height.
    2. Grids tab: edit the default Grid.
    3. In metadata tab: Edit the metadata (no more than 3 keywords!)
