Hacky example of nginx + ubuntu + unicorn, ripped from a working app

Primary LanguageRuby

DESCRIPTION:

  • Hacky example of nginx + ubuntu + unicorn, ripped from a working app

NOTES:

  • It’s invasive and should be made into a gem of sorts with a base template for project name, etc

  • I’ve included rake arguments for number of unicorns and rails env (which really should be a no-no since you can use RAILS/RACK_ENV) for convenience of non-techie person

  • Noted in the init.d script, perms should be changed from root.

  • It’d be nice to distill the idea into a gem which builds and installs any necessary configuration scripts for a rails 3 app.

DIRECTIONS:

  • Copy the files in lib/ and script/ into your own rails 3 project.

  • Edit/replace script/init.d/training_conference. Replace references to “training_conference” to your own app. Rename the script to be the same as your app.

  • Open script/init.d/README. Follow directions for install. Yes this should be a simple rake task instead.

  • Edit lib/tasks/unicorns/unicorns.rake. Replace any references of “conference|conferences” with your own app name.

  • Edit/copy script/nginx/nginx.conf to your nginx configuration directory. Replace “training_conference” path with your own app path.
