Project Proposal

Project title: PERSPECT1VE

Value Proposition

The place for you to share your space. PERSPECT1VE is what you make of it, create and upload your own portfolio, or simply browse others and find new things that interest you.

What?

I would like to build a website that is in essence a free hosting space for individuals to upload their own portfolios, or for visitors to browse portfolios and find something or someone they are insterested in.

Why?

Tired of Youtube, GitHub, LinkedIn, yourown.com? Welcome to PERSPECT1VE, share all your talents, in one place. This website aims to allow individuals to upload customizable portfolios without having to host their own website, or use many other content creation platforms.

For whom?

This software is aimed at students, artists, content creators and employers.

How?

This website will achieve the goals specified above in the following ways:

  • A login system where users are prompted to create either a creator or spectator account
  • A spectator account will allow the user to view creator portfolios
  • A creator account will allow users to create, change and customize a unique porfolio based on predetermined forms of media

Forms of media may include:

  • Art
  • Text (including code)
  • Music
  • Video

Scope

In order to provide the functions listed above, the following tasks must be completed:

  1. Extensive front-end design so that user inputted/uploaded data is formatted and presented in a meaningful way
  2. A login system that is able to differentiate between users and provide functionality accordingly
  3. Safe storage of usernames, passwords and user provided data

Additional Functionality may include:

  1. Ability for spectators to create a list of favourite portfolios
  2. Ability for creators and spectators to interact locally (within site)

I believe achieving these goals to a reasonable standard will require a full semesters work for up to 5 programmers.
