Installation

  1. Clone the repository:
    git clone https://github.com/yourusername/story-bot.git

Navigate to the project directory:

cd story-bot

Create a virtual environment:

python -m venv venv

Activate the virtual environment: For Windows:

venv\Scripts\activate

For macOS and Linux:

source venv/bin/activate

Install the required dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

Set up your OpenAI API key:

  • Create a .env file in the project root directory.
  • Add the following line to the .env file, replacing YOUR_API_KEY with your actual OpenAI API key:
OPENAI_API_KEY=YOUR_API_KEY

Run the application:

streamlit run story.py

This will start the Streamlit server and open the application in your default web browser.

Usage

  • Once the application is running, you will see a sidebar on the left with the title "Story Bot" and a welcome message.
  • In the "Your Input" section, type your message or prompt to guide the story's direction.
  • Press Enter or click outside the input box to submit your message.
  • The AI assistant will generate a response based on your input and the conversation history. The response will be displayed in the main area of the app.
  • Continue providing input to further develop the story and see how it unfolds.
